During this time, they do not eat or drink and dive into long sleep to bypass the adverse climatic change in winter.

Squirrels do abandon or leave their nests. These critters often build two to three nests to migrate if their nest is attacked, their food supply runs out, or their nest becomes contaminated with disease.
