Cockatoos live in all types of forested areas in the wild. They expand out into pine woods and rainforests from eucalyptus groves. To graze on grass seeds, they can also dwell in mangroves, open country, and the lower slopes of mountains.

Cockatoos are very fond of sleeping and can take a few short naps during the whole day. Wild cockatoos cannot follow proper sleep cycle but the captive cockatoos can. They generally sleep at night and scream a lot before going to sleep. Their sleeping posture also can differ on the basis of their niche.

Cockatoos eat fruit. They also consume vegetables, as well as meat as a diet. Depending on the species, cockatoos generally consume a variety of seeds, fruits, nuts, berries, roots, and plant material like leaf buds. Some even consume bug larvae. They enjoy snacking on nuts.

Every cockatoo gets jealous of so many different events in the surroundings. They just need the attention of the owner or the person who is nearby. This behavior can be treated but it is not acceptable if a person expels a jealous cockatoo.

Cockatoos do not have an excellent skills for talking but they usually scream a lot. They have a huge vocabulary and also have the ability to memorize human commands. They use to scream a lot to get some attention.

Cockatoos have a unique ability to build their nest. They specially build their nests before the mating season. They often get scared by predators, like eagles and falcons, and make a nest for their hatchlings. The offspring only leave the nest after 10-11 weeks of their life.
